Kayaking – OYC owns two kayak trailers capable of transporting up to 18 kayaks.
Many OYC members are highly experienced and can help novices learn techniques. Kayaking is a growing sport that allows even experienced blue water sailors an opportunity to enjoy the tributaries of the Albemarle Sound from a new perspective. Communities around the Sound offer unique kayaking trails and experiences.
Cruising – Club members often enjoy cruising together to the Chesapeake, or the Pamlico, or just around the beautiful Albemarle Sound. Dates of planned cruises are posted in advance on the OYC Group calendar, though a few pop up on the schedule from time to time as the mood strikes. Come along and enjoy the company of your new friends in new destinations.
Just for Fun – Activities are planned throughout the boating season to take advantage of our waterfront lifestyle. A 4th of July Boat Parade followed by “water wars”, raft-ups in the Yeopim river, a beach dingy raft-up, “blind” dingy races, scavenger hunts, water poker, and more will fill your days with friends, food and fun. Come join us!
