The Yeopim River entrance from the Albemarle Sound is approximately 25 nm from the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AICW). Approaching from the east once past red daymark “2AS” (QR 16ft 3m) set a course to the northwest leaving red daymark “4AS” well to your starboard. (Shoal water exists in the vicinity of the daymark, “4AS”.)
Private navigational aids mark the entrance channel to the Yeopim River from the Albemarle Sound, beginning at green “1” (Fl G 2.5s 15ft 3m) and red daymark “Y/R”. From waypoint at 36 3’N; 76 24’W, continue on a northerly course through the channel until green “5” (Fl G 4s 15ft). Then set a northwesterly course to approach red daymark “4A”; proceed on course to red daymark “6” (QR 8 ft 3m), followed shortly thereafter by red daymark “8”. Then steer a heading 355M for 1/3nm, then turn right directly to fuel dock. Deeper draft boats should enter the fuel pier from the south as the depth is shallower towards D dock. Fuel dock has a soft bottom and a depth of 6-8 feet.
